# Definition
Equipotential surfaces are imaginary surfaces where the [[Electric Potential|electric potential]] is the same ($V = \text{const}$). You can see equipotential surfaces in the image below as blue lines; they are always perpendicular to the [[Electric Fields|electric field]].
